How this service works What is My Free Telecom ? My Free Telecom is a new revolutionary concept, where free long distance calls can be made in exchange for listening to advertisement. The locations you can call for free are currently limited to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). This free service is available 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week. You can call as many times as you want, and talk as long as you want. My Free Telecom is your free long distance service in GTA. Every time you want to make a FREE call, dial: 416-255-5800 Who pays for my calls ? All calls are absolutely free to you. The cost is paid by our advertising sponsors. Thanks to their support, it is possible to make this service absolutely free for you and everybody else to enjoy. In exchange, the only thing we ask you for is to listen to their short advertisement message for each call that you make. That's only one short message per call, and then you can talk as long as you wish, with no further interruptions at all. You will never receive any bills for calls made using My Free Telecom service. Do I have to register for this service ? No. There is no registration required. This service is available to you and everybody else without any registration, qualification or subscription of any kind. Simply put - it's free to use. How do I call ? My Free Telecom service is easy to use. Touch tone phone is required, and you must call from and to within the supported locations. You must be able to call our switch as a local number to take advantage of this free service. Every time you want to make a free call, dial our access number: 416-255-5800 and follow simple instructions to enter the telephone number you want to call. Short advertisement message is played just before connecting your call. Is this service legal ? My Free Telecom is registered with Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) as a long distance reseller, and this service fully complies with all CRTC regulations. This service is legal. Is Customer Service available ? Customer service is available by pressing 0 on the main menu, while you are connected to our switch. Our customer service representative will gladly handle all your questions or inquiries. You can also contact us directly by telephone, fax, mail or e-mail. I missed the company name and telephone number from the ad I liked. How can I contact them now? If you had heard an advertisement of your interest, but didn't remember the company name or their telephone number, please contact our Customer Service by pressing 0 on the main menu, and we will gladly provide this information to you. Just briefly describe what the advertisement was about, and we should be able to point to the right company. You can also search our Sponsors section on this Web site. I hear operator message: "You must dial 1 or 0 before the number you are calling..." instead of being connected. What is it ? When you hear this (or similar) message, it means that you tried to call a number which is not included in our free service area, and My Free Telecom does not provide service to this location. This message is played by the local telephone company, not by My Free Telecom, and asks you to hangup and call this number in the regular long distance fashion (e.g. by dialing 1 in front of the number), without using My Free Telecom service. Please note that if you do so, you will be billed for this call by your local telephone company. Every time you dial 1 in front of the number you should be prepared to pay for this call. I have to call your access number: 416-255-5800 as a long distance number. Is this service still free for me? No. If you have to call our access number as a long distance number (with 1 in front of the number), you are not within our free service area. This service is not free for you because you will be billed for those calls by your local telephone company. Every time you dial 1 in front of the telephone number be prepared to be billed for your calls. Can I use it for faxing ? Yes, you can, as long as you manually dial from your fax machine. My Free Telecom service is not suitable for faxing using computer fax programs. Do you have any tips on how to use this service ? Our switch access number: 416-255-5800 is easy to remember. Please notice that the last 7 digits of this number are located vertically, in one line, from the top to bottom, on your telephone keypad. This was intended to make it easy for you to remember and dial, as needed. To make it even easier to connect to our switch, we suggest that you program this number on your telephone speed dial bottom, or speed dial service from your local telephone company. After you are connected to our switch, you don't have to listen to the complete voice introductions and all menu options. You can make your selection as soon as the line is answered and skip the entire menu message. You can even start entering the telephone number you wish to call as soon as the line is answered, without listening to or selecting any menu options. This will reduce the overall time before your call is connected. However, you cannot skip the advertisement message, we ask you to listen to the entire message. To make free calls never dial 1 in front of the telephone numbers. Every time you dial 1 be prepared to be billed for this call by your local telephone company.
